Street League

AlexGT.M.Lewin supports a number of charities that really make a difference and for the last few years we’ve been working with Street League, a football charity that helps get unemployed young people into the workplace. Our role has been to provide work placements for some of these young people at our UK stores.

So what does this have to do with football? Street League uses the power of football to engage with some of the most disadvantaged 16 to 25-year-olds living in the UK by providing a free, eight-week football and education ‘Academy’ programme As well as some great games of footie, it teaches key employability skills, such as teamwork, communication, goal-setting, CV-writing and mock interviews. For every four graduates from the Academy, two get jobs and one goes into training.

Three out of four graduates from the StreetLeagueAcademy get a job or return to education and training. A pretty impressive statistic we think you’ll agree. And a number of these success stories have bee given work placements at T.M.Lewin in recent years. Looking to the future, it’s is something we hope to continue providing for this inspiring charity.

Matt Stevenson-Dodd, Street League Chief Executive, says: ‘Street League gives young people the skills required to successfully get through an interview and then maintain a job. With one million 16 to 24-year-olds out of work in the UK, it’s crucial that companies step forward and give young people the opportunity to prove themselves. T.M.Lewin are a great example of how a large business can make a tangible difference to young people’s lives.’

The Street League Success Stories – the young graduates who have gone on to become full-time T.M.Lewin employees…
