Summer may have been a bit of a washout weather-wise so far, but that didn’t stop the T.M.Lewin Head Office team from stepping out in their shorts to brave the unseasonably cool June temperatures recently. The sartorially stylish T.M.Lewin office dress code was replaced by one simple rule – wear shorts. And most of us were happy to oblige.
This was not a defiant protest against the British weather but a combined team effort make some money for ‘Balls to Cancer’, a UK charity that works to raise funds for male cancer awareness, education and research.
According to them, over 200,000 men are affected by cancer in the UK every year and even more alarming, is the fact that prostate cancer kills one man every hour of every day and is now the most common male cancer. The figures for testicular cancer are equally scary. It’s now the most common cancer in men aged 15-44 and the numbers have doubled in the last 30 years.
Faced with these sobering figures, T.M.Lewin took an intentionally lighthearted approach to one very serious issue and managed to raise £1,425 in the process. A highlight of the day undoubtedly being the impromptu catwalk display performed by a number of ‘shorted’ male members of the team.
Then it was back into long trousers, ready to face the rain again…
