Bank Holiday Lookbook: Casual Ideas for the Long Weekend

Are you looking forward to another long weekend? Whether you’re heading out of the city into the country, or relaxing at home, now’s the perfect time to update your wardrobe with the latest spring/summer pieces.

Fashion Trends for Spring

With the array of vibrant flowers, playful lambs and beautiful blue skies starting to make more of an appearance, spring has definitely sprung!

The spring/summer catwalks saw an exciting range of styles, colours, prints and embellishments. It can be tricky to stay up-to-date with all the latest fashions and so we have outlined the key trends in 9 simple points. Don’t forget to bear these in mind when refreshing your wardrobe this spring!

Pastel Colours

A key trend on the catwalks was adding pastel colours into your look. We saw a mix of light mint greens, baby blues, but especially pretty pinks.

Lace

This season is all about lace, whether it is on tops, ladies dresses or accessories. It adds an exquisite vintage, English country garden feel to an outfit.

Prints

Rivalling lace is a mix of printed designs. These range from floral dresses to bold geometric shapes and more statement pieces, with a key focus on art, incorporating tribal, street and muralist designs.

Black

You may be surprised, but black has also returned to our wardrobes in this year’s spring/summer fashion collection. You can’t go wrong with a little black dress as this can be easily dressed up or down. If you want to add a statement to your look, why not try adding a black leather jacket to your outfit.

Blouses and Shirts

This year, we’re happy to see that there was a strong focus on chic clothes, for busy working women, especially tops. Blouses played a key role, as well as crisp white shirts for women. Mix up your white shirts by trying panelling or a touch of pattern. If you feel the cold why not pair your shirt or soft top with a pastel coloured cardigan.

Pleated Skirts

This season is all about length. Try either a midi or maxi skirt instead. Pleats are bang on trend this season and you can easily work both trends at once. Plus for more impact, wear your skirt with flat shoes.

Slim-Fit Coat

It may look sunny outside, but it can still be a little chilly, so keep a coat at hand. On the catwalk, the coat was everywhere, so to stay on trend. Choose a coat which is knee-length and slim-fitting.

Embellishments

This season is all about adding extra sparkle to your outfits. Try adding some statement jewellery on top of your collars, dresses and tops. You can also jazz up your outfit with embellished footwear. This season’s catwalks saw a mix of styles, from embedded rhinestones, feathers and metal studs!
